Ingredients

1 lb beef strips

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tbsp brown sugar

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tsp cornstarch

1 tbsp water

1 tbsp sesame seeds

2 green onions, sliced (optional)

1 tbsp cooking oil for pan


Instructions

1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and rice vinegar until the sugar dissolves.

2. Add beef strips to a resealable bag or dish and pour the marinade over. Toss to coat. Refrigerate for 1 hour or up to overnight.

3. Heat a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add cooking oil, then sear the beef in batches, cooking until browned and caramelized.

4. In a small saucepan, simmer the leftover marinade. Stir in cornstarch mixed with water. Cook until the sauce thickens.

5. Toss the cooked beef with the glaze in the skillet. Top with sesame seeds and green onions if using. Serve hot.

Notes

Marinate for longer for deeper flavor.

Sear in batches to avoid steaming the beef.

Reduce marinade into glaze separately to ensure food safety.
