Description

This Simple Banana Bread Syrup is a cozy, homemade topping perfect for pancakes, waffles, French toast, and desserts. Made with ripe bananas, brown sugar, and warm spices, it tastes just like banana bread in syrup form. Ideal for breakfast or brunch, this easy banana syrup is naturally sweet, rich, and stores well for later use.

Ingredients

1 cup mashed ripe bananas

1/3 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup water

Instructions

1. In a small bowl, mash the bananas thoroughly until no chunks remain.

2. In a saucepan, combine mashed bananas, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, salt, and water.

3. Heat over medium, stirring often, until mixture begins to simmer.

4. Let it simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring regularly, until it thickens slightly.

5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

6. For a smoother syrup, use a blender or strain through a fine sieve.

7. Allow syrup to cool before storing in a jar.

8. Refrigerate and reheat before serving.

Notes

Use overripe bananas for the best flavor and natural sweetness.

If too thick after chilling, warm gently with a splash of water.

Perfect as a topping or mixed into oats, yogurt, or desserts.
