Description

This hot chicken salad French bread sandwich recipe is the ultimate comfort food. Ingredients

1 loaf French bread

2 cups cooked shredded chicken

1 cup mayonnaise

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

2 stalks celery chopped

3 green onions sliced

2 tablespoons hot sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional sliced jalapeños or crushed red pepper


Instructions

1. Slice the French bread loaf in half lengthwise and scoop out some of the soft center to make room for filling. Place on a baking sheet.

2. In a mixing bowl, stir together chicken, mayonnaise, 1½ cups cheddar cheese, celery, green onions, hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Add jalapeños or red pepper if using.

3. Spread the mixture evenly over each half of the bread.

4. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheddar cheese on top.

5. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12 to 15 minutes until cheese is melted and bread is golden.

6. Let cool slightly, slice, and serve warm.
