Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup unsalted butter softened
2 large eggs

5 cups fresh apples peeled cored and thinly sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar for filling
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 cup powdered sugar
2 to 3 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract for glaze
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper. Lightly grease the paper.
2. In a large bowl cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
4. In a separate bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
5. Gradually combine dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
6. Press two thirds of the dough evenly into the prepared pan to form the base crust.
7. In a large bowl toss sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and flour until evenly coated.
8. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust layer.
9. Crumble or flatten the remaining dough over the apples leaving small gaps.
10. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the top is lightly golden and apples are tender.
11. Allow bars to cool completely before glazing.
12. Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and drizzle over cooled bars.
13. Let glaze set before slicing and serving.
