Ingredients
1 9-inch pie crust
1 cup pecan halves or pieces
3/4 cup semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate chips
1 cup light corn syrup
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
3 large eggs
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and place a rack in the center.
2. Roll out the pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan, trim and crimp the edges. Refrigerate while preparing the filling.
3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
4. Stir in the chocolate chips and 3/4 cup of the pecans.
5. Pour the mixture into the chilled pie crust and spread evenly.
6. Arrange the remaining pecans on top in a decorative pattern.
7. Bake for 50–60 minutes, until the center is set and the top is glossy. Cover crust edges with foil if browning too quickly.
8. Cool completely at room temperature before slicing.
9. Serve plain or with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
This pie sets better if allowed to cool fully before slicing.
Use high-quality chocolate for the richest flavor.
To toast pecans before baking, dry roast them in a skillet for 3–4 minutes.
