4 cups powdered sugar
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease three 8-inch round cake pans.
2. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add lemon juice, zest, and vanilla.
4. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk into the wet mixture.
6. Divide batter evenly into pans and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
7. Let cakes cool completely on a wire rack.
8. Puree strawberries and strain excess liquid.
9. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
