Description

These Strawberry Cream Cheese Heart Danishes are a delightful breakfast or brunch pastry made with puff pastry, sweetened cream cheese, and fresh strawberries. Perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special morning, they bake up golden, flaky, and irresistible. A quick and charming treat that combines strawberry danish flavor with adorable heart-shaped presentation.


Ingredients

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

4 oz cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

6 fresh strawberries, chopped

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon milk


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Roll out thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out even hearts.

3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.

4. Place full heart cutouts on the baking sheet and add a spoonful of cream cheese mixture in the center of each.

5. Top the cream cheese with chopped fresh strawberries.

6. Place hollowed-out heart pastry tops over each and press edges gently to seal.

7. Brush edges with egg wash.

8. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until puffed and golden.

9. While cooling slightly, whisk together powdered sugar and milk to create a glaze.

10. Drizzle glaze over cooled danishes and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

These danishes are best enjoyed the day they’re made.

You can use frozen strawberries if fresh are out of season.

Try adding lemon zest to the cream cheese for a citrusy twist.
