Description

This Simple Pumpkin Roll is the perfect fall dessert with spiced pumpkin cake wrapped around a sweet cream cheese filling. A festive, easy-to-make treat that’s moist, flavorful, and perfect for gatherings or a cozy afternoon. Great for holiday baking, pumpkin recipes, and fall cakes.


Ingredients

3 large eggs

1 cup granulated sugar

⅔ cup pumpkin puree

¾ cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

¼ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

8 oz cream cheese, softened

4 tablespoons butter, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for filling)

Powdered sugar (for dusting towel)


Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 10×15-inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy. Stir in pumpkin puree and vanilla.

3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

4. Gradually fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.

5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.

6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cake springs back lightly when touched.

7. While warm, carefully invert the cake onto a clean kitchen towel sprinkled with powdered sugar.

8. Peel off parchment paper and gently roll the cake up in the towel from the short end. Let it cool completely.

9. In a bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add vanilla and powdered sugar, mixing until creamy.

10. Unroll the cooled cake, spread the filling evenly, and re-roll without the towel.

11. Wrap the roll in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use pure pumpkin puree, not pie filling.

Don’t skip rolling the cake while warm—it prevents cracks.

Let the roll chill before slicing for clean swirls.
