Description

This sausage gravy and biscuits recipe is the ultimate Southern breakfast comfort food. Made with creamy, peppery sausage gravy served over warm, fluffy biscuits, it’s a hearty and easy-to-make classic. Perfect for brunch, holidays, or chilly mornings. Keywords: sausage gravy, biscuits and gravy, Southern breakfast, creamy sausage gravy, easy gravy recipe.

Ingredients

1 pound breakfast sausage

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 1/2 cups milk

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

6 warm biscuits (homemade or canned)

Instructions

1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the breakfast sausage. Cook until fully browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 7 to 10 minutes.

2. Do not drain the fat. Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir well to coat. Cook for 2 minutes to eliminate raw flour taste.

3. Slowly pour in the milk while stirring continuously. Simmer the mixture for 5 to 7 minutes until the gravy thickens.

4. Add salt and black pepper to taste. Stir and adjust seasoning as needed.

5. Split open warm biscuits and ladle sausage gravy generously over each. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Keep extra gravy in the fridge and reheat with a splash of milk.

Use spicy sausage if you like heat or stick to classic for a traditional flavor.

If your gravy gets too thick, just thin it with a bit more milk while heating.
