Description
These no-bake Puppy Chow Bars combine chocolate, peanut butter, and crispy Chex cereal into sliceable dessert bars coated with powdered sugar. The perfect twist on classic Muddy Buddies for parties, lunchboxes, or anytime sweet cravings.
Ingredients
6 cups Rice Chex cereal
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup creamy peanut butter
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter together. Stir continuously until smooth and fully combined.
2. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
3. Add the Rice Chex cereal to a large bowl. Pour the melted mixture over the cereal and gently fold to coat evenly, being careful not to crush the pieces.
4. Press the mixture into a parchment-lined 9×9-inch baking dish, smoothing the top into an even layer.
5. Sprinkle powdered sugar generously over the top and lightly press it in so it sticks.
6. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until firm. Slice into squares and serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
Make sure to use regular creamy peanut butter, not natural, to avoid separation.
Don’t skip the chilling step — it helps the bars hold together when sliced.
You can add mini M&Ms, crushed pretzels, or chopped peanuts for extra crunch and flavor.
