Description

Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies are soft and chewy cookies packed with sweet maraschino cherries and rich chocolate chips. Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter softened

1 cup brown sugar packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 3/4 cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup maraschino cherries drained chopped and patted dry

1 1/2 cups chocolate chips


Instructions

1. Drain maraschino cherries well, chop into small pieces, and pat dry with paper towels.

2. In a large bowl beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.

4. In another bowl whisk flour, baking soda, and salt.

5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until combined.

6. Fold in chopped cherries and chocolate chips evenly.

7. Scoop dough onto lined baking sheet spacing cookies apart.

8. Bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are set and centers remain soft.

9. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes then transfer to rack to cool completely.

Notes

Properly drying cherries prevents excess moisture in the dough.

Do not overbake to keep cookies soft and chewy.

Use good quality chocolate chips for best flavor.
