Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon black pepper 1 cup milk 1 large egg 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted 1 ½ cups sharp cheddar cheese shredded ¼ cup fresh parsley chopped 2 tablespoons fresh chives chopped
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the shredded cheese, parsley, and chives. Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool slightly before slicing.
Notes
For extra flavor, sprinkle a little more cheese on top before baking. Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender. This bread freezes well if wrapped tightly in foil or plastic wrap.
