Description
Rich, creamy, and irresistibly decadent, this German Chocolate Pie combines sweet coconut, crunchy pecans, and silky chocolate custard in a flaky crust. A must-try dessert for chocolate lovers looking for an easy pie recipe with a Southern twist.
Ingredients
1 9-inch pie crust
4 oz German chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
3/4 cup evaporated milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and roll out your pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate. Crimp the edges, poke holes in the bottom with a fork, line with parchment and fill with pie weights. Bake for 10–12 minutes until lightly golden. Let cool.
2. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the German chocolate and butter, stirring until smooth. Let it cool slightly.
3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract. Slowly stir in the chocolate mixture to prevent curdling.
4. Fold in the shredded coconut and chopped pecans until evenly mixed.
5. Pour the filling into the pre-baked crust and bake at 350°F for 45–50 minutes, or until the center is just set.
6. Let the pie cool completely before slicing. Serve at room temperature or slightly warmed.
Notes
Make sure the chocolate mixture is not too hot before adding to the eggs to avoid scrambling.
Toasted pecans add an extra layer of flavor—toast them briefly in a dry skillet before using.
For cleaner slices, chill the pie for 30 minutes before serving.
