Description

These homemade garlic knots are soft, buttery, and bursting with fresh garlic flavor. Perfect as a side dish or appetizer, they pair well with pasta, soup, or salads. This garlic knots recipe uses simple pantry staples and can be made with homemade or store-bought dough. Great for weeknight meals, parties, or weekend treats.

Ingredients

1 cup warm water

2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast

1 teaspoon sugar

2½ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

3 garlic cloves, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until foamy, about 5–10 minutes.

2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the bowl. Stir until the dough comes together.

3. Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.

5. Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each into a rope and tie into a knot.

6. Arrange knots on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise again for 20–30 minutes.

7. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake knots for 12–15 minutes or until golden.

8. While baking, melt butter in a small saucepan and add minced garlic. Cook for 1–2 minutes.

9. Stir in chopped parsley and remove from heat.

10. Brush baked knots with garlic butter. Sprinkle with Parmesan if desired and serve warm.

Notes

Use fresh garlic for the best flavor.

Don’t overbake to keep them soft inside.

Let the dough rest at room temperature before shaping.
