Description

Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1/2 cup almond paste
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1/4 cup sliced almonds
Instructions
1. In a mixing bowl, combine almond paste, granulated sugar, and one egg. Beat until smooth and creamy.
2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out puff pastry sheet and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Spread almond filling evenly down the center, leaving about 2 inches on each side.
3. Cut horizontal strips on both sides of the pastry. Fold strips over filling in a braid pattern, tucking ends.
4. Brush pastry with beaten egg and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
5. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until puffed and golden. Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use all-butter puff pastry for best flavor.
Let the pastry cool slightly before slicing to keep it intact.
Reheat in the oven to restore crispiness if storing leftovers.
