Ingredients
400g fettuccine pasta
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup heavy cream
1 1/2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
1 clove garlic (optional), minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the fettuccine until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain.
2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the heavy cream and stir to combine. Simmer for 3–4 minutes.
3. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until fully melted. Add minced garlic if using.
4. Add the cooked fettuccine to the sauce and toss to coat evenly. Use reserved pasta water to adjust consistency as needed.
5. Season with salt and pepper. Serve immediately with more Parmesan and fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
Use freshly grated Parmesan for best melting and flavor.
Do not overcook the sauce; it thickens as it cools.
Add grilled chicken or shrimp for a protein boost.
