Description

These Festive Meringue Christmas Trees are the ultimate holiday treat! Light, crisp, and adorable, these meringue cookies are perfect for parties, edible gifts, or Christmas cookie platters. Easy to make and naturally gluten-free, they bring holiday magic with minimal effort.


Ingredients

1/2 cup egg whites

1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Green gel food coloring, as needed

Holiday sprinkles or edible stars, for decorating


Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 200°F (90°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Fit a piping bag with a large star tip.

2. In a clean, dry mixing bowl, whip the egg whites on medium speed until foamy.

3. Add cream of tartar and continue whipping.

4. Gradually add granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while whipping until stiff peaks form and the meringue is glossy.

5. Add vanilla extract and green gel food coloring. Mix until just combined.

6. Transfer the meringue to the piping bag. Pipe tree shapes by swirling upward in a spiral motion, leaving space between each tree.

7. Decorate with sprinkles or edible stars.

8. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours or until dry to the touch. Turn off oven and let cool inside.

9. Once completely cool, gently peel the meringue trees from the parchment and store in an airtight container.

Notes

Let meringues cool fully in the oven to avoid cracking.

Use gel food coloring to avoid adding moisture to the meringue.

Store in an airtight container away from humidity to preserve crispness.
