Description

This Easy Spaghetti Sauce is rich, savory, and made with pantry staples. Perfect for busy weeknights or weekend feasts, it’s a homemade tomato sauce that elevates pasta, lasagna, or even pizza. Made in under 30 minutes, it’s ideal for meal prep and family dinners.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 medium onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1 bay leaf

Instructions

1. Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

2. Stir in the garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

3. Add the tomato paste and stir well, cooking for 2 minutes to develop flavor.

4. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir to combine.

5. Add sugar, salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir to blend.

6. Drop in the bay leaf. Bring the sauce to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer uncovered for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

7. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Remove bay leaf before serving.

8. Use immediately or cool and store for later use.

Notes

Let the sauce simmer longer for a deeper, richer flavor.

Use an immersion blender if you prefer a smoother texture.

This sauce freezes beautifully for up to 3 months.
