Description

This easy homemade tartar sauce is the perfect creamy, tangy condiment for seafood favorites like fish fillets, crab cakes, or shrimp. Made with mayonnaise, pickles, lemon juice, and capers, it’s quick to prepare, bursting with fresh flavor, and better than store-bought. Ideal for dipping, spreading, or drizzling over your favorite dishes.

Ingredients

1 cup mayonnaise

3 tablespoons finely chopped dill pickles

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon chopped capers

2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Finely chop the dill pickles, capers, and parsley.

2. In a medium bowl, stir together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice.

3. Add chopped pickles, capers, and parsley into the mixture and stir to combine.

4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

5. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Tartar sauce tastes best after chilling, so don’t skip the resting time.

You can swap dill pickles for sweet relish if you prefer a sweeter taste.

Adjust lemon juice and mustard to match your preferred tanginess.
