Description

This Easy Homemade Naan Bread recipe is soft, fluffy, and full of flavor. Perfect for dipping, wrapping, or scooping, this skillet naan is made with yogurt, flour, and yeast — ready in under an hour! A simple, delicious bread recipe ideal for curry nights, wraps, or snacking.

Ingredients

1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

⅓ cup plain yogurt

⅓ cup warm water

2 teaspoons active dry yeast

1 teaspoon sugar

½ teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter

1 tablespoon minced garlic (optional)

2 tablespoons melted butter for brushing

Instructions

1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.

2. Add flour, salt, yogurt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until dough forms.

3. Knead the dough for 6 to 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4. Cover the dough and let it rise for 45 minutes to 1 hour until doubled.

5. Punch down the dough and divide into 6 to 8 equal balls.

6. Roll each ball into an oval about ¼ inch thick.

7. Heat a skillet on medium-high until hot.

8. Place one rolled dough in the skillet and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until bubbles form.

9. Flip and cook another minute until browned spots appear.

10. For garlic naan, press garlic onto one side before cooking.

11. Remove from heat and immediately brush with melted butter.

12. Repeat with remaining dough pieces.

Notes

This naan dough can be frozen after shaping for future use.

Use cast iron for the best texture and browning.

Add herbs or cheese to the dough for extra flavor.
