Ingredients

1 cup strawberries, chopped

4 oz cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 package pie dough, store-bought or homemade

1 egg, beaten

2 cups vegetable oil, for frying

powdered sugar, for dusting


Instructions

1. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.

2. Chop strawberries into small pieces and pat dry if overly juicy.

3. Roll out pie dough and cut into 4-inch circles.

4. Spoon cheesecake mixture and strawberries into center of each circle.

5. Brush edges with beaten egg and fold dough over to form half-moons.

6. Press edges with a fork to seal.

7. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep skillet or fryer.

8. Fry pies for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.

9. Remove and drain on paper towels.

10. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.

If using frozen strawberries, thaw and drain before using.
