Description
This Decadent Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish recipe features buttery puff pastry, tangy cream cheese filling, and sweet blueberries for a bakery-quality breakfast or dessert at home. Perfect for brunch, holidays, or a sweet treat, it’s easy, flaky, and indulgent.
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
4 oz cream cheese, softened
3 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp lemon zest
1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
3 tbsp powdered sugar (for glaze)
1 tbsp milk (for glaze)
Instructions
1. In a bowl, beat softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon zest until smooth.
2. Unroll and slightly roll out the puff pastry sheet on parchment. Score a 1-inch border around the edges.
3. Spread the cream cheese mixture inside the scored border, avoiding the edges.
4. Sprinkle blueberries evenly over the filling.
5. Brush the edges with the beaten egg.
6. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20 to 25 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
7. Let cool slightly. Mix powdered sugar and milk to create glaze.
8. Drizzle glaze over the danish.
9. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Use butter-based puff pastry for the flakiest, most flavorful result.
Don’t thaw frozen blueberries to prevent extra moisture in the pastry.
For a crispier crust, bake on the lower rack of the oven.
