Description

This crispy bang bang salmon bites recipe features tender salmon chunks marinated, breaded, and fried to golden perfection, then coated in a creamy spicy bang bang sauce. A bold appetizer or main dish, these salmon bites are perfect for seafood lovers and easy weeknight meals. Try them with Asian slaw, sweet potato fries, or coconut rice for a full flavor-packed meal.

Ingredients

1 lb salmon fillets (skinless, boneless, cut into chunks)

1 cup buttermilk

2 tablespoons hot sauce

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs

2 large eggs (beaten)

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1/4 cup sweet chili sauce

1 tablespoon sriracha

1 tablespoon lime juice

Instructions

1. Cut the salmon into bite-sized chunks and soak them in a mix of buttermilk and hot sauce. Let marinate for 30 minutes.

2. Prepare three bowls: one with flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper; the second with beaten eggs; the third with panko breadcrumbs.

3. Dredge each salmon chunk in the flour mix, then egg, then panko.

4. Heat oil in a skillet and fry until golden brown, or air fry at 400°F for 10–12 minutes. Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes if preferred.

5. For the sauce, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and lime juice until smooth.

6. Serve the crispy bites tossed in sauce or on the side for dipping. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

Make sure the salmon pieces are even in size for even cooking.

Chill the breaded salmon for 10 minutes before frying to help them hold their shape.

Adjust the spice level by increasing or decreasing the amount of sriracha.
