Description
Classic Cannoli Squares are an easy, no-fry twist on traditional Italian cannoli, made with pie crust, creamy ricotta filling, and chocolate chips. These cannoli bars are perfect for holidays, potlucks, or a make-ahead dessert with classic flavor and modern simplicity.
Ingredients
1 package refrigerated pie crusts
1 ¾ cups whole milk ricotta, well-drained
1 cup powdered sugar
¾ cup mini chocolate chips
1 teaspoon orange zest
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 egg white, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
1. In a bowl, combine ricotta, powdered sugar, orange zest, and mini chocolate chips. Mix until smooth and chill the filling.
2. Roll out one pie crust into a greased or parchment-lined 9×13 inch baking pan, pressing slightly up the edges.
3. Spread the ricotta mixture evenly over the bottom crust.
4. Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top. Press edges to seal.
5. Brush the top with egg white and sprinkle with cinnamon.
6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
7. Let cool completely.
8. Dust with powdered sugar, slice into squares, and serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
Let the ricotta drain overnight to avoid a soggy crust.
Don’t overbake—the top should be golden, not dark brown.
Use parchment for easy lifting and clean cuts.
