Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

0.5 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

2. Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet until a dough forms.

5. Divide the dough in half, wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour.

6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes.

7. Place on parchment-lined baking sheets and bake 8–10 minutes.

8. Cool on wire rack. Decorate as desired.

Notes

For clean edges, chill dough again briefly after cutting shapes.

Allow icing to fully dry before stacking or packaging.
