Description

This Chocolate Brownies Yule Log recipe is a decadent twist on a holiday classic. Featuring a fudgy brownie base rolled with rich chocolate ganache, it’s the perfect Christmas dessert centerpiece. Learn how to make a yule log with brownies, plus tips for storage and serving. This festive chocolate dessert is ideal for holiday parties and make-ahead treats.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup brown sugar

4 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup cocoa powder

0.5 teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

0.75 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a 10×15 inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper. Lightly grease the paper.

2. Melt butter and mix in granulated sugar and brown sugar until smooth.

3. Whisk in eggs and vanilla extract until fully combined.

4. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir gently to combine.

5. Fold in chocolate chips.

6. Spread the batter evenly in the pan and bake for 12–14 minutes until just set.

7. Remove from oven and immediately flip onto a kitchen towel dusted with powdered sugar. Peel off parchment and roll the brownie in the towel. Cool completely.

8. Heat heavy cream until simmering. Pour over chocolate chips and stir to make ganache. Let it cool to a spreadable consistency.

9. Unroll the brownie, spread ganache evenly, and roll back up. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Let the brownie cool completely before unrolling to prevent tearing.

You can freeze the yule log wrapped in plastic and foil for up to 1 month.

Add crushed peppermint or nuts on top for extra flair.
