Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp olive oil or butter
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until translucent.
3. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Drain any excess fat.
4. Stir in cream of mushroom soup. If using vegetables, stir in thawed mixed veggies.
5. Transfer mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
6. Arrange tater tots on top in a single layer.
7. Bake uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes, until tater tots are golden and the cheese is bubbly.
8. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Let the casserole rest before serving for cleaner slices.
Add a pinch of smoked paprika or chili flakes for extra flavor.
Swap cheddar for a Mexican blend or mozzarella for a cheesier twist.
