Ingredients
2 large yellow onions
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup sour cream
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon chopped chives (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
1. Slice the onions thinly and set aside.
2. In a skillet over medium-low heat, melt butter and olive oil together.
3. Add onions and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for 30 to 40 minutes until deep golden brown and soft.
4. Remove from heat and let onions cool completely.
5. In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream and softened cream cheese until smooth.
6. Stir in garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
7. Fold in cooled caramelized onions and mix well.
8. Chill the dip in the fridge for at least 1 hour to develop flavor.
9. Before serving, garnish with chopped chives if using.
10. Serve with chips, crackers, or fresh veggies.
