Description
A warm and comforting Biscuits and Gravy Casserole that combines flaky biscuits, creamy sausage gravy, and melted cheddar cheese into one delicious breakfast bake. Perfect for brunch or make-ahead meals. This easy casserole is a family favorite and crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
1 can refrigerated biscuits
1 pound breakfast sausage
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 ½ cups whole milk
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon butter (optional, for greasing the dish)
Instructions
1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully crumbled. Do not drain the fat.
2. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute.
3. Gradually whisk in the milk and stir until the gravy thickens, about 5–7 minutes. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
4. Grease a 9×13 baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
5. Cut the biscuit dough into quarters. Spread half of the pieces evenly in the bottom of the baking dish.
6. Pour the sausage gravy on top of the biscuit layer, spreading it evenly.
7. Add the remaining biscuit pieces over the gravy and sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.
8. Bake at 375°F for 25–30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden and fully baked through.
9. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Let the casserole rest before cutting to help it set.
Use flaky-style refrigerated biscuits for best texture.
Add hot sauce or jalapeños for a little kick.
