Description

This Best Layered Black Forest Trifle is a no-bake dessert layered with moist chocolate cake, whipped cream, and juicy cherries. An easy and show-stopping trifle recipe perfect for parties, holidays, and chocolate lovers. Includes cherry liqueur options for a grown-up twist.

Ingredients

3 cups chocolate cake, cubed

1 ½ cups cherry pie filling or jarred cherries

2 cups whipped cream

¼ cup chocolate shavings

2 tablespoons cherry liqueur (optional)

Instructions

1. Bake your chocolate cake if needed and let it cool. Cut into 1-inch cubes.

2. Whip the cream until stiff peaks form, adding vanilla or sugar if desired.

3. In a trifle dish, layer cake cubes, cherries with some juice, and whipped cream. Repeat the layers.

4. Top with the final layer of whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings and whole cherries.

5. Chill the trifle for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Use store-bought cake to save time.

Kirsch or cherry brandy enhances the flavor beautifully.

Best served within 24–48 hours for peak texture.
