Description
This Beef Pepper Rice Bowl recipe is a sizzling skillet meal loaded with thinly sliced beef, buttery rice, cracked black pepper, and sweet corn. Inspired by Japanese Pepper Lunch, it’s a quick and easy rice bowl recipe perfect for busy weeknights. Ideal for beef lovers looking for bold flavor in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
1/2 pound thinly sliced beef
2 cups cooked white rice
1/2 cup corn kernels
2 tablespoons chopped green onions
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 tablespoon neutral oil
Instructions
1. Mix soy sauce, minced garlic, and black pepper in a small bowl to create the sauce. Set aside.
2. If needed, thinly slice the beef and lightly season it with salt and pepper.
3. Heat a pan over high heat, add the oil, and quickly sear the beef for 1–2 minutes until browned but still tender. Remove and set aside.
4. Add cooked rice to the same pan and press it down slightly to toast.
5. Create a small well in the center of the rice and add the butter.
6. Around the butter, add corn, green onions, and the seared beef on top.
7. Drizzle the sauce evenly over everything in the pan.
8. Let everything cook for 2–3 minutes undisturbed to crisp the rice bottom.
9. Stir well before serving so the butter and sauce coat all the ingredients.
Notes
Use ribeye or sirloin for the most tender texture.
Don’t overcook the beef — thin slices cook fast!
To get the crispy rice bottom, avoid stirring too soon after layering the ingredients in the pan.
