Description

Indulge in these Apple Fritter Waffle Donuts, a delicious mashup of crispy waffles and glazed donuts packed with cinnamon-spiced apples. This easy homemade waffle donut recipe is perfect for fall breakfasts, brunch, or holiday treats!

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon salt

1 large egg

⅔ cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 medium apple, peeled, chopped, and cooked

1 tablespoon butter (for cooking apples)

½ cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)

Instructions

1. Peel and chop the apple into small pieces, then cook in a skillet with butter, sugar, and cinnamon until softened. Set aside to cool.

2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

3. In another bowl, whisk egg, milk, and vanilla extract.

4. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then fold in the cooked apples.

5. Preheat and lightly grease your waffle iron.

6. Spoon batter into each section and cook until golden and crisp.

7. In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze.

8. While still warm, dip or drizzle the waffle donuts with glaze.

9. Let glaze set for a few minutes, then serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

These are best served warm while the glaze is still slightly melty.

Use fresh apples over canned pie filling for better texture and flavor.

For extra indulgence, dip in caramel sauce or top with toasted pecans.
