Description

A comforting and hearty American Chop Suey recipe featuring elbow macaroni, seasoned ground beef, and rich tomato sauce. Perfect for family dinners, meal prep, or a nostalgic bite. Try this classic New England pasta dish that’s simple, filling, and full of flavor.


Ingredients

2 cups elbow macaroni

1 pound ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

1 green bell pepper, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil


Instructions

1. Cook elbow macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onions and green bell pepper. Sauté until softened.

3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

4. Add ground beef. Break it up with a spoon and cook until browned and no longer pink. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

5. Pour in tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well and let simmer for 10–15 minutes.

6. Stir in cooked macaroni. Let sit on low heat for a few minutes to absorb flavor. Serve warm.

Notes

Use any short pasta if elbow macaroni isn’t available.

This dish tastes even better the next day.

Add mushrooms, zucchini, or spinach to sneak in more veggies.
